I enjoy drawing very much. I especially like to draw people. A goal in my art is to say something about the human condition - what it means to be human in the world we find ourselves in. I think often the quick sketches are the most revealing. Quite a few of the sketches shown are one to five minute sketches. If one does not have time to think but must simply respond, the drawings are less cerebral and more authentic.
I try to carry my sketchbook with me when I travel. As well, for almost twenty years I have met regularly with a group of friends to draw. We meet in our homes and often hire a model. I also belong to a life drawing group called Basic Inquiry. We all pay an annual membership to rent a studio space and all the organizing and work is done by volunteers, There are one or more drawing sessions every day, always with a model. To go and meet friends and and visit and draw is a pleasant way to spend an evening.
